What personal data is collected and why it is collected

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If users upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

Newsletter subcription form: Data captured on submition are Name and Email, to be kept indefinitely or until user unsubscribes. Newsletter may be used to inform about upcoming events and (non-commercial) offers.
 
Contact form on contact page: Data captured on submition are Name Email, Subject of message/comment and Message/comment, to be kept for at least one year for blog service purposes, but information submitted through this form is not used for commercial purposes unless user gives consent after follow up contact.

If you play one of the videos featuring a YouTube embedded video (which are clearly marked in the center with the official YouTube logo), a connection to the YouTube servers is established. Here the YouTube server is informed about which of the videos you have played. If you’re logged in to your YouTube account, YouTube allows you to associate your browsing behavior directly with your personal profile. You can prevent this by logging out of your YouTube account.

Twitter
Functions of the Twitter service have been integrated into our website. These features are offered by Twitter Inc., 1355 Market Street, Suite 900, San Francisco, CA 94103, USA.

Currently one embedded Twitter stream widget is incorporated on the website. When you use Twitter and the “Retweet” function, the websites you visit are connected to your Twitter account and made known to other users. In doing so, data will also be transferred to Twitter. How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

NOTE: Currently registering of user accounts is not possible. If for any reason specific user account creation is needed, the following applies; For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
